There’s no reason for you to suffer from the lack of self confidence that can come from being dissatisfied with the size or shape of your breasts. The breast augmentation procedure (also known as an augmentation mammaplasty) serves to enhance the size and shape of your chest for a more attractive body contour. Dr. Stephen Brown provides every one of his patients with results that suit their exact preferences for a natural-looking improvement.
The Right Approach for Every Patient
No two patients are the same. Because of this, Dr. Stephen Brown tailors each breast augmentation procedure to your specific needs and physiological traits. His assessment starts during your first consultation. At this time he will discuss your improvement goals and lifestyle in order to begin creating an informed treatment plan. This plan will include the type of implants to be used, where they will be placed and the best incision site to be used. The quality of implants has advanced significantly in recent years, which means you will be able to select from a wide range of sizes and shapes to achieve your ideal enhancement. You may also view before and after patient photos that clearly show what type of results are possible when using different surgical techniques and implant models/sizes. This will help you to get a better idea of what to expect. After a comprehensive discussion of your goals, he can then use his own experience and artistic eye to suggest the implant size, texture, and shape that will provide the best outcome. To get the process started, please call 905-849-4282.
If any of this seems overwhelming, don’t worry. Dr. Brown and the entire staff at Briarwood Cosmetic Surgical Centre never want you to proceed with treatment if you don’t feel comfortable with doing so. For this reason, Dr. Brown maintains an honest and calm approach that has earned him the respect of his patients.

What Type of Problems Can Breast Enlargement Fix?
Breast enlargement can correct many different concerns, but isn’t used to treat every aesthetic complaint you may have. A different form of cosmetic breast surgery is recommended if you require treatment of issues like sagging, abnormal shape, or enlarged areolae (the darker area surrounding the nipple). Dr. Brown may recommend an alternative procedure during your consultation if breast augmentation cannot effectively address the aesthetic concerns you have.
What the surgery is ideal for is increasing chest size and correcting a lack of symmetry between left and right breasts of different shapes or sizes. It’s also the right treatment option for restoring a youthful appearance and compensating for the shape or volume lost after major physiological changes like pregnancy and weight loss.
Breast Augmentation Massage Technique
As a breast augmentation patient of Dr. Brown, you may be advised to massage your breasts following your surgery. Performing therapeutic breast massage can help to expedite your recovery and enhance your results by reducing the chances of negative side effects occurring, such as capsular contracture. Capsular contracture is the development of scar tissue that can form around the implant, which, if not managed, can lead to pain and a swollen and misshapen appearance.
Lymph Drainage Massage
Lymph drainage massage is a circular and gentle massage that can help decrease swelling and accelerate the restorative healing of damaged tissues. The following is a general outline:
Start by warming up the breast area and applying moisturizing skin cream on it. Then, gently rub the sides of the breast upwards to the nipple in a circular movement. If you notice any firmer or immovable tissue, concentrate your efforts on that area. Finally, gently squeeze your breasts at the bottom.
Sometimes, compression exercises may be recommended to improve pliability. To do these, begin by gently compressing each implant a couple of times, pausing a few seconds before releasing. Push it up, down, right, and to the left.
Please note that these are very general instructions. The specific steps you should take will be outlined by Dr. Brown for you following your breast enhancement surgery. These instructions will include when to start massaging your breasts as well as how many times to do it each day.
Correcting Asymmetry With Breast Augmentation
A common concern of patients is breast asymmetry. One breast may be larger than the other, shaped differently, or sit higher and project further from the body. A difference in the appearance of one nipple/areola may exist as well.
It is important to understand that nobody has perfectly symmetrical breasts. It is extremely common for one breast to look different from the other, much like one side of your face. Asymmetry of the left and right side of your body is totally natural.
However, there are some cases where asymmetry is a cause of concern. If the concern is related to achieving a balance of size or projection, breast augmentation may help. Problems related to shape may also be addressed to a certain extent.
Breast Size Asymmetry
Breast size asymmetry is an issue that can be corrected fairly easily with breast augmentation, simply by choosing two implants of different sizes. The implant that is to be placed in your naturally smaller breast should be bigger than the one placed in your larger breast. You can also choose to get just one implant if the difference is a matter of a couple of cup sizes.
Implants come in a variety of “profiles”. The profile of a breast implant refers to the amount of projection that is achieved when the implant is placed into the body. If one breast sits flatter against the body, then a higher profile may be selected to improve projection.
Breast augmentation does not usually correct asymmetry of breast shape, and may even make the problem more visible. Talk to Dr. Brown to find out whether your breast shape asymmetry may be corrected with breast augmentation.
