Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments

laser skin resurfacing oakville

Laser skin resurfacing with CO2 (carbon dioxide) or Erbium lasers is the gold standard in erasing wrinkles, photodamage and scarring. While the procedure does involve a longer recovery period when compared to other laser skin technologies, the results that can be achieved are far more predictable and dramatic, with less risk of hypopigmentation. In fact, our patients have found that a single session can noticeably improve their complexion, making them look at least several years younger! This means that you may be able to effectively address your concerns in fewer visits than what could be achieved with less powerful technologies, and the only downside is a slightly longer and intense recovery period (you can expect to get back to work in two weeks and four to six weeks for more strenuous activity).

Laser skin resurfacing has the ability to treat many complexion concerns. It can be performed on the entire face for total rejuvenation or just spot treat certain areas.

Hyperpigmentation
Treatment can lighten dark spots caused by excessive sun exposure and aging, such as melasma and “liver spots”. It has been proven to be very effective in eliminating small to large blemishes equally.

Rhytides
Smooth fine lines and wrinkles anywhere on the face, including around the eyes and mouth. Weaker laser technologies are not able to improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and creases in as few sessions as laser skin resurfacing.

Benign Skin Growths
Warts, enlarged oil glands on your nose (rhinophyma), birthmarks, and other undesirable growths may be removed without adversely affecting the surrounding skin.

Acne Scarring
Many skin solutions are ineffective in treating the residual effects of acne. However, one of the conditions laser skin resurfacing has been designed to treat is acne scarring. (Please note that your appointment may be postponed in the event you have active acne.)

Treatment involves focusing an intense beam of light energy on the areas you wish to target for improvement. This light energy gently removes your outer layers of skin so fresh new healthy skin can grow in its place. After recovery, your skin will continue to improve with the accelerated growth of collagen, the essential building block for healthy, youthful skin—for up to a year after the procedure!

For many of our patients, laser skin resurfacing is now their preferred choice for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
